Trying to find out a little more about the Barcode Reader, I came across this splendid article written by Antony Pranata over at S60tips.
First a quick quote from Wikipedia what a barcode is exactly:
A barcode (also bar code) is a machine-readable (uses dark ink on white substrate to create high and low reflectance which is converted to 1’s and 0’s) representation of information in a visual format on a surface.
Antony explains all this as Nokia has just launched a new service called Nokia codecs, where you can create your own barcode.
I did create one too (link to http://n95blog.com):
After you created a barcode (for you website, email address or phonenumber), you can put it on your website or as signature in your mail. Spambots will see a pictures that will not give them the info they are looking for.
Now to use the barcode, you can choose from the following links to get a barcode reader for you S60 mobile phone:
Give it a go and see for you self what it offers! I see quite a lot of these pop up over at different websites…

[…] Hi, there is another thread about the barcode reader under general 95….apparently, this barcode reader does not read the standard barcodes (black & white vertical lines) that we’re familiar with but rather the DataMatrix type that consists of a grid of square cells.
