Add a touch of iPhone to your Nokia N95… This app uses the N95’s built-in level sensor to change the display lay-out from portrait to landscape and vice versa.
Subscript with video:
rotateMe v2.0 on N95 with auto rotation function like an iphone.
Available (unsigned) end november.
A new version will be also available for n73, N80 and E65:
- New User Interface
- Rotate the screen by launching the app (like an E60)
Developer site: http://www.bysamir.fr/rotateme/
We’ll keep an eye on this savvy app… it sure is sweet!
edit: I see sites mentioning that I had a chance to review this app, obviously my post was written a bit blurry.
Unfortunately I did not have hands-on time with this app. Source of the video is DailyMotion and it was uploaded by soueldi.

I saw the developers website, and nowhere it says that rotateme uses the built in orientation sensor of N95. Actually, it is not even compatible with N95.
What this app does is alternating the orientation from portrait to landscape with the press of a key. I had it in my old N80 and it was very useful. However, in N95 it is pretty useless, as you can do the same thing by sliding the keypad to the opposite way. That’s way there is not a N95 version of the app.
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 4:07 am ¶to Bazil: the version on the devs site is not the one that uses the sensor of the n95. The version that does is 2.0 and that one is suppose to come out at the end of November.
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 5:08 am ¶OK then. We are waiting eagerly for the end of November.
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 5:56 am ¶WOW!
I really looking forward to test it on my N95

thats gonna chew a ton of battery hopefully it only works when keylock is off otherwise i think it would be pointless
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 11:50 am ¶I didn’t even realise the N95 had an accelerometer! Reading http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/N95_sensor now..
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 12:28 pm ¶Really interesting application, perhaps to completely outline iPhone, let’s wait, time will tell.
Posted 30 Oct 2007 at 4:58 pm ¶When I saw the recent post for N95 screen rotation (rotateMe 2.0) I thought, perhaps like many, “my N95 has an accelerometer?? No way!”
It does. Simple as that. You can download a free demo application which demonstrates the accelerometer in the N95 here:
http://research.nokia.com/projects/activity_monitor
This link provides a development API with sample code and a simple “MovingBall Example” application which reacts to the 3-axis accelerometer in the N95 (witness 3rd axis by ‘bouncing’ the ball). The developers of the API were focused on a pedometer application, but I see no link for this on the site.
Just one more feature no longer exclusive to the iPhone
