Extend the range of your mobile phone’s camera… both ways!

2 (try & buy) Products that would come in very handy…

  1. EyeSpyFX Webcam
This powerful web cam broadcasting software allows you to create a your own web cam monitoring service. One click broadcasting - you do not need a web site or access to FTP. You can view your cam via the WWW or via mobile phone.
Which means that you can create your own security camera at home, viewable on your mobile!
  2. Mobiola Web Camera
Turn your Symbian phone into a high-quality web camera and throw out your bulky USB webcam. Very simple to install and configure, Mobiola Web Camera consists of two software components: (1) a client application that resides on the phone, and (2) a webcam PC driver compatible with any Windows application that can receive video feeds from a web camera.
Well, that is something I would really like to have. That would make a nice Bluetooth webcam… think of the possibilities!

Okay, but while writing this I come to the conclusion that to use both… you either need 1 webcam and 1 (compatible) mobile phone, or… 2 mobile phones!

So while I really like the idea of extendig the capabilities of your phone, I still think that in the end we are using (way too) many devices and accessories. I think that the 2 services will be in our daily lifes quite soon. The need for the visual aspect is getting bigger every day, not just for fun, but also as part of a growing need for security.

The possibility of keeping a remote eye on your house or office, combined with extras like being able to open a door remotely, is something that will really appeal to the masses.

You didn’t get it. Mobiola turns your mobile into webcam, so you don’t need any other devices.

I did get it… was only saying that if you are using your mobile as a webcam, you will need another mobile to instantly watch what your webcam/mobile is capturing at home… ;)
