Newbie Question: Download my Videos from Nokia N95 8GB to my laptop?

tagged with:, , ,

I’m wondering if anyone can help me?

I’ve just brought the N95 8GB and I can’t download any of my videos to my laptop it just won’t accept them. I’ve even downloaded “realplayer” to my laptop as that’s the app on the phone but stil nothing. It will let me view the file but when I try and Copy, transfer, send the file it won’t work.

Has anyone had any problems with this before?

Any help would be great, thanks

    Dear friend,

You can download a Codec Pack like Nimo or K-lite, to play the Mp4 files in your native Media Player.

I use Media player Classic to view these movies.

The Media Player Classic it´s a Mod of the Windows Media Player 6 (Win98SE), and can be found inside K-lite Mega Codec Pac.

It’s not clear at all from this post whether the problem is
    1) “I don’t know how to copy the video files from the phone to the laptop”
    or
    2) “The videos won’t play on the laptop with the videoplayers I have”

Problem 1) is just a matter of plugging in the USB cable into the phone and laptop and selecting “data transfer” on the phone. Your phone will act like any other usb mass storage device.

Problem 2) can be fixed by installing the latest version of any mp4 compatible media player, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp4#Compatible_software

Indeed the question is not quite clear but let’s start by suggesting to download Nokia N-Series Suite with all the tools you need to connect and communicate with your Nokia N95 8GB.

Skip Windows media player or Real player. Just download VLC - Video Lan Client… the BEST of all - any codec under the sun plays on it..it’s free too.. www.videolan.org

For videos captured from N95, it is usually in the format of MP4. You can simply use Apple Quicktime. That should settle.

however if he is on a mac there s no such thing as pc suite. just not supported. shame really. what about all those mac users. isnt that a target audience for nokia? i would have thought design oriented telephone audience would go well with design oriented computer users.
