NiiMe: taking the accelerometer to yet another level

tagged with:, , , ,

NiiMe is a software programed in Python that use the accelerometers built in a few mobile phones (like the Nokia N95)

With this software (you will have to donate to get all needed files for both phone and PC) you will be able to take the interaction between your N95 and your PC to another level, as shown in the video below:

I have a lot of respect for people who are able to cook up something like this, so as soon as this is available for Mac, I would not mind donating to testdrive this… If anybody who did test it want to share his/her experience here on this blog, please send me a message.

this is stupid, why would you want to use a $700 device as remote.

It would be stupid if one would buy the device just for being a remote. But, if you already own such a device (mine wasn’t $700, not even close) then it would be wise to use the device for more than just being an intelligent phone.

This is going to be awesome, just imagine the possibilities…! I predicted great things once the Accelerometer API was revealed by Nokia and am looking forward to much more.
Games, Apps etc… the future is bright!

    Hi Eveyrone,

I know this message is out of context but everyone on this site seems to be knowledgeable about N95s.
I have the N95 8GB phone. So far I am really happy with it. There’s only one problem:
I am using my phone in Canada and I have an option that allows me to see the name of the caller with the number even if I don’t have it on my phonebook.
e.g. John Smith calls me and I don’t have his number. On the display I can read JOHN SMITH and his number. The problem is when I miss the call, I can only see the number.
On my previous phones, I could see both the name and number.

Do you guys know what I’m talking about? How can I fix this glitch?

    Thanks!
