Discussion on the price of the to be released Nokia N95 is buzzing all over the internet currently. I thought it wise to do a little add-up to see whether the mentioned prices are realistic and whether the phone is worth it.
I must add that I will be looking at the prices for the device only, NOT in combination with some subscription. And I will be looking at the price in HOLLAND, in Euros (€, EUR).
Firstly a list of what feature the Nokia N95 has and what those would cost separately.
- 5MP camera | on a low average around € 160,-
- MP3 player/Radio/DVD-quality movieplayer | on a low average around € 200,-
- Mobile GPS Navigator with maps for Europe & USA | on a low average around € 350,-
- Phone with most of the specs + WLAN | on a low average around € 400,-
Of course I understand that we cannot simply add-up these figures and calculate a price for the N95… it is only to give an indication.
At this moment, just a few stores have put a price-tag on the Nokia N95. For me here in Holland there is currently one and the release-price will be EUR 550,- (at time of writing about USD 710,-).
I think EUR 550,- is not even that high a price. Taking into account what this device is capable of and how all features are packed into 1 sweet and smooth looking device, makes that I am willing and confident to pay this price for it.
Furthermore, I probably will save some money from my phone bill as soon as Skype is available for this mobile phone.
At this stage I am still saving, hope to have the money soon enough to give you a feature-by-feature review right after the Nokia N95 has been released officially!
