Does it come with a decent battery? I love my N95 but if there was one area I’m sure every N95 user would pick to be improved it’s battery life.

N96 has 950 mAH battery as N95 which a serious disadvantage for this phone.

There’s interesting post on thenokiablog.com about this issue with interview with N96 product manager.

Will the N96 have a touchscreen?

16GB internal memory is really cool.
(4 or 2 times the capacity of an iPod nano)

No Xenon flash = no purchase from me.

To me, the N96 is not a true successor to the N95.

This phone does look good. And I will be buying one.

I am sad that it only comes with a 950 mAH battery, but I have overcome this issue with my N95-1 by having multiple chargers, for my car, workplace and at home, I am happy with this solution.

I have looked at other phones such as the LG Viewty and K850 and Iphone, but have decided that I will wait for this as my next phone. Reply to this post if you want me to share my thoughts on the above phones.

Phones will always get better; Im sure there will be a new n96 that addresses the battery issue, and their next phone in this range may include a xeon flash… (Wanted to point out that a xeon flash requires 2 massive capacitors which takes up space, maybe a bigger battery also) Is this something we need on a camera phone?

Of course it is Tom. The keyword is camera. A camera that is only worth using in light condition is almost pointless. Keep in mind plenty of phones have included a Xenon flash and the majority are the same size as most handsets (the two year old K800i comes to mind).

@Elliot sure K800i has a xenon flash BUT it doesn’t have that much in it like the n96.. The n96 has so many things crammed in there that the xenon flash would maybe not fit in there..

Elliot, I guess it would be nice to have a better battery life, and a xeon flash, I think it would ruin the stylish look, if they needed to make the phone bigger… its already quite big.

I have owned K800i, And sometimes, I think, if you dont take a picture up close enough, it still seems pointless having a flash. I gave up my K800 for a N95, and I have never looked back since, And impressed with the LED flash.. Much better than i thought.. Maybe two in the n96 would even be better.

    What do you think?

Ok, I take it that you won’t be buying one then? If you want xeon flash, then the LG Viewty seems to be an impressive camera phone.. It can also capture at high speed; so you can play back footage in slow mo. It even has the built in GPS, but DAB TV. Unfortunately for the LG, I hear that there are not many apps you can get, and you can accidentally tap things on the touch screen. Although it looks mighty attractive.

Another phone is the SE K850 which doesn’t look too bad. I have had many SEs in the past, but your missing out on the DAB and GPS.

This is why I conclude that the n96 is the best phone I can buy, OK, its missing a xeon flash and perhaps a short battery, Its a stylish phone with 16gb memory, GPS, digital TV, External SD card, Symbian OS 9 Feature Pack 2, Wifi!

I think the LEDs will be sufficient, in my bid to convince you, I have taken 4 photos with my N95-1 in low light condition, two without LEDs and two with. If your object is at a fair distance, you will get pleasing results. Two LEDs will be even better.

The main drawback I found in the N95 -and I imagine it’s the same in the new one is the keypad. Couldn’t they try for a qwerty?

I cannot wait for this thing…I am a power user of N95 and will donate it to the spouse as soon as the N96 hits the streets…Come on Nokia lets get the ball rolling and start releasing this beautiful phone…why do you make us wait?

What is the annual income of N95 users?
How many units will Nokia sell of the N96?

I think everyone should have one…

If they made a QWERTY phone, I personally would be disappointed. I have tried the SPV E650 and found the number pad easier to use. I guess it would be good if they were able to make the phone slide sideways to expose a QWERTY keyboard, and also slide down and up for number and music/gaming keys.. Now, that would be cool. Some of the number pad keys would turn into letters. And the keys would light up differently to show the letters!

I don’t think there is a trend re income of n95 users, However, I think there may be a trend in Jobs for N95 users. I think that a proportion of n95 user’s work in IT, or other IT related positions and are generally technical minded. Other users do not know anything about the phone specs, but buy it because it looks nice, or because it boasts about a 5mp camera.

    What do you think?
