nseriesIn the past weeks/months, the quantity of pictures taken with Nokia N95 on flickr has developed very nicely:

But what stuns me more (in a non-Harry Potter figure of speech), is the quality of the pictures. Not just the quality in general, but also the composition of the pictures.
A few examples:

I am impressed with results like these… and it is good to see what a good cameraphone can achieve.

When you are busy and want to get the most out of your S60-operated phone, you might want to read the following post over at cubeover.
6 Steps to improve Nokia S60 UI. Here I will focus on how this UI makes you focus more on what you want, instead of trying to get out of your way.
I just changed a few things in my own setting already. Really appreciate how Sergey Zak has searched in depth for solutions for using your phone more efficiently.

Finally a manufacturer who sees the options of a case for the Nokia N95.
On eBay there is an offer for a case that carries a 6x optical zoom lens for the Nokia N95:

Function:
Overcome the short coming of camera cellphone that can only near-sighted, it also makes distant view for you at the moment.
Advantage:
The new design to run of rays can effectively avoid the contortion of image, and makes the super wide angle, the larger luminous flux, the higher visual acuteness, good for color reduction, which makes the high quality of photography.
Usage:
# You need to fit the telescope clip well yourself by “instant glue”.
# Befor you fit it by “instant glue”, you need to test it first.
# Change the cellphone back shell first enclosed with the telescope.
# Adjust the clear foucs with the naked eye.
# It can take a picture while fixing the telescope on back shell. (If the screen of your cellphone is analyzed degree enough, you can adjust the focus with the screen of the cellphone).
As a result, this:

Great… let there be more extensions like these! I still have the feeling that the possibilities for extensions on a mobile phone’s case are underrated. This is a good example of what is possible.

social networkingAccording to this post by Michael Arrington (TechCrunch), Nokia might soon launch their social networking initiative over at mosh.nokia.com
As the site is still password-protected, Michael had put up the following screenshot:

Two readers have told us about Nokia Mosh, which appears to be a completely separate product with no connection to Yahoo Mosh.
You can see different things in the screenshot:
- You can browse Audio, Images, Applications, Games, Videos and People
- You can tag items
- You can upload and share all items mentioned in point 1
- You can download all items mentioned
- And you can connect to the mobile community…
Further attention being drawn by the depicted Nokia N95, I noticed the .mobi address on the bottom right side…
http://mosh.nokia.mobi
Just point your mobile browser there an you will see the following:

Different kinds of media available, possibilities to download and share, possibility to tag, to report abuse, to search and browse…
Link this to the “Nokia community” and add GeoTagging to this service and Nokia has a very strong social tool in their hands!
Let’s keep a close eye on MOSH.NOKIA.COM to see how soon we can sign up!

If the following pictures from Slash Gear are for real, then I am sorry for my previous post on this matter.
As it seems, the Nokia N95 8 GB is indeed a fact:
Following on from our news of the 8GB black Nokia N95 supposedly coming soon, a commenter on that post pointed us in the direction of this far clearer (and real-life) photo of the new N95.

Unfortunately there’s no indication of who took the photo, where it was taken and even in what country. Remember, while the US writes dates in the MMDDYYYY format, Europe uses DDMMYYYY and so that could make a big difference (May versus July) in when the N95 was actually spotted.
What this does confirm is that the 8GB version exists, although other rumours regarding the omission of GPS are still unconfirmed.
The reason that I am not jumping with joy yet and still not convinced, is that there is not much info on the picture and to me, this picture (especially if you look at the original format) does look like it is being Photoshopped:
- At the top of the slider, it has this slight blurry effect around the edges
- The basis of the phone does not seem to be black, it seems to have the glow of the plum colored version N95
- Why is the whole screen darkened too? This is the regular stand-by screen, but all text is very hard to read, including the text of the soft-keys.
- If this would be the design, why is the keypad without any contrast? Black figures on a black keypad?
Aargh! My gut-feeling says something is fishy… and these rumors are killing me!
No they are not, but Nokia, Please!

nseriesLive Earth being in full progress now, the amount of awareness talk in the media is overwhelming. One of the measures to save energy discussed is unplugging your chargers after having charged you devices.
It is something that I usually did not do. Bit more aware now.
But thinking of ways to save energy, I of course came across my Nokia N95… and how energy consuming it is. I do not have the technological explanation, but I guess that a device that needs to be charged every day or day-and-a-half, is less earth-friendly than a device that consumes its energy more efficiently.
But we got to keep things in perspective:

Nokia has reclaimed its position at the top of the ranking. The front-runner has already eliminated PVC from new models of mobiles and is now eliminating BFRs from the remaining applications of BFRs – in new flexible circuits. Nokia gets top marks for its support for Individual Producer Responsibility, (each company should take care of the electronic waste from its own-branded discarded products). But, it loses points for poor reporting on the amounts of discarded mobiles that it recycles as a percentage of past sales.
[source: Greenpeace]
So maybe the N95 does do bad in consuming energy, but on a greater scale, this is partly compensated by Nokia’s focus on producing cell-phones in “greener” way.
I hope to see that the mobile phone is the first device (as it is always carried close to your body) that gets its energy from bodyheat… that would really make it earth-friendly!
