I am writing this post from my Apple keyboard o my Nokia N95… using Wavelog.Still have to get used to the different workflow while writing a post, did not read any manual in order to test how it works “out of the box”. No idea what will happen with what I insert “down” or “right”, as the two options mention.Okay, enough text for now. Will edit this further later on. |
So, the above written was posted from my Nokia N95.
The setup and usage of Wavelog is very simple. Now that I see the output, I am quite amazed. It puts the different objects (text, images) in a table structure, rather than simple markup.
Still, it is a simple and effective tool for blogging to WordPress or Drupal, as it very neatly uses XML-RPC to publish content. The picture added above was easily added, though I noticed that I could not access other folders than my gallery folder (too bad I keep my screenshots in another folder…).
Neither could I add categories (only general), nor tags…
Anyhow. Wavelog does open up possibilities and with future adjustments will be a good onboard blogging tool for the Nokia N95 and other phones.
I say onboard, as there is of course also a mobile admin plugin for WordPress… to use in a mobile browser.

Thanks Jan for this great review. As I use Wavelog since its launch one month ago, I’d like to add couple of useful tips.
Posted 16 Feb 2008 at 1:32 am ¶As a blogging client it allows also saving your posts for later upload if you’re offline or your posts are large for mobile network so you prefer uploading them over Wi-Fi once in range.
Although its editor is rudimentary it accepts all html tags. So have your syntax handy and you may simply add links and the rest.
(Dutch) Ik herken je foto: dat moet de coolsingel in Rotterdam zijn. De poster van het Zadkine bevestigde het, maar ik herkende het al gelijk bij de tumbnail. Kwaliteit laat te wensen over he? ik heb wel is betere foto’s geschoten maar die pixelstoring blijf je toch houden. Zonde, maar gelukkig niet al te storend.
Keep up the good work door de site up-to-date te houden. Bedankt voor alle info, is echt nuttig.

Posted 19 Feb 2008 at 5:21 pm ¶@ Jazz87: [in Dutch] Moet zeggen dat het meevalt, zeker bij foto’s die met goed daglicht gemaakt zijn. Deze thumbnail komt er nogal rot uit.
Is inderdaad Coolsingel, was net daarvoor een busje achteruit gereden tegen fiets en lantaarnpaal.

Leuk dat je zo snel reageert, zegt genoeg over hoe je met je Blog omgaat..
Maar met een beetje goed licht kom je inderdaad een heel eind met de N95. En voor een snellere verwerking heb ik de camera dan ook op 3M ingesteld. Werkt toch wat lekkerder.
Ik wilde je deze foto eigenlijk even laten zien: heb ik een tijdje geleden in Rodenrijs gemaakt (daar woon ik, net boven R’dam)
En ok… ik zal niet tegen je liegen, ik heb em met photoshop een fractie donkerder gemaakt. Maar ik was erg blij met het resultaat:

Ook op een heldere zonnige dag moet je maar is een foto recht in de zon nemen, is dan misschien niet zo goed voor je lens, maar het laat gelijk zien hoe goed je camera eigenlijk is.

Great post. Another possibility is to use Qumana (http://www.qumana.com/) : Offline blogging tool. Combine it with the easy connection sharing on OS-X (http://www.beulbek.nl/2008/01/31/sharing-the-nokia-n95s-internet-connection-with-os-x-in-5-easy-steps/) and voila: your done.
Downside ofcourse is that you need your laptop
