Using the wireless Apple keyboard with my Nokia N95… a little help please!

apple wireless keyboard

Yes, I am a sucker for Apple stuff. So when this neat little keyboard came out I only had to wait for its availability to get my hands on it. Thanks to my friend Jonas, I received it yesterday…

With the keyboard connection application (under Office), standard on the Nokia N95, I had the keyboard hooked up via Bluetooth in no time.
Left and Right command key work as the soft keys of the N95, typing goes well, selecting with the arrow keys and activating with the Enter key too…

But how do I access the menus? I do not really want to change the dedication of the softkeys… I tried anything, but I am kinda stuck now. Is there any other software / application that could help me out?

Anybody else using a non-Nokia keyboard where no “menu” buttons are dedicated? What could give a solution?

Looking for your answers in the comments, thanks!

I tested out my N95 with the older Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard. I got all the things to work including the Alt-Tab for menu.
However, my problem was connecting the keyboard to the phone. Althought it says to just turn on the keyboard and press any key (after the initial pairing), it didn’t work and I had to manually search and connect the keyboard each time. Did you have any similar problems with this one?

Could you try using software such as SkyeQuiKey (http://www.skyestream.com/cart/shopcart_sqk3_main.htm) to avoid actually havig to use a menu?

SkyeQuiKey is like predictive text for mobile application launching and works brilliantly.

Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks you guys!

Indeed did the ALT + TAB combination give me access to the phone’s main menu. That is great.  Regarding how thin this keyboard is and how gentle it types, I have a very good solution for small trips where I only need my email: I use this keyboard and EMOZE on my N95 and I have all I need!

Will look into that software, but in fact my main question ahs been answered!

    (OFFTOPIC, sorry)

First, congratulations on a great blog. It’s the first page I consulted after getting my N95.

I have a question that maybe you can help me with: is there a software to show the actual GPS time on the phone? I tried several different progs and only J2MeMap shows any time in compass mode, but the time it shows is incorrect (about 1min off for me). It would be a great way to synchronise one’s watch with.

I’m glad you got it up and running my friend. If you’re going to carry around your keyboard with your mobile, shouldn’t you go for something like
    this
    instead? :P
