Cheese Month is back!

 

Keep a very close eye on your local Farro Fresh, Countdown, Fresh Choice and New World stores in October as they will be among many venues showcasing the best of New Zealand made cheese through month-long tastings, specials and promotions.

You may even spot your favourite cheesemaker in store! Go and say Hi (they’d love to meet you), try something different and celebrate New Zealand specialty cheeses!

Here are some of the events planned for Cheese Month:

Taste Cheese with Juliet Harbutt

Master of Cheese and Member of the Guild des Fromagers, Confrerie de Saint-Ugozon

$45 per head includes Cheese and Beverage Tasting

When: Wednesday 4 October 2017, 6:30 till 8:00pm

Where: The Dairy, 2 The Lane, Ponsonby Central, Auckland

Barry’s Bay & Birkenhead Brewing Company

Lovers of all things cheese and craft beer rejoice! The two BBCs – Barry’s Bay Cheese and Birkenhead Brewing Co. have picked out their perfect matches to take you through a cheese and beer matching masterclass. Cost $25

Meyer Gouda Tasting and ‘Cooking with Gouda’

Come and learn about the history of Gouda from Miel at Meyer Gouda. He’ll be demonstrating how to make the ultimate grilled cheese sandwiches – talking about the history of his family and the Meyer cheese factory, Gouda cheese and also how it’s made. FREE

IL Casaro Mozzarella Making Demo

Join Max from IL CASARO for an Italian cheese making masterclass. Max will be making Mozzarella, demonstrating how to tie a mozzarella knot and offering delicious serving suggestions for other cheeses in his range. Come and see him demonstrate his craft and taste the creations. FREE

Mercer Cheese

The shop in Mercer will be opening for the first time on Sundays during October in collaboration with New Zealand Cheese Limited.

Canterbury Cheesemongers

To celebrate NZ Cheese Month, Oxford Farmers Market is inviting home cheese makers to bring their cheeses to a tasting and informal judging by all the tasters. Only for amateur cheese makers!

Martin Aspinwall will give a talk on the day to prepare the tasters for the task ahead. Gold coin donation is kindly requested, and you will be given judging papers. Limited to 50. For more information email adreagauland@gmail.com
